Jack O'Toms

East Sussex

A large (637m²/6851ft²) three-storey, four-bedroom private detached house built into a South facing hillside in the East Sussex countryside. The house is set within its own woodland which also incorporates a stream fed lake at the bottom of the site. Partly due to its remoteness the house was designed as an eco-house. It is highly insulated, is heated by air and ground source heat pumps and has photovoltaic panels on the roof, making it virtually self-sufficient in energy terms. It is also orientated to take advantage of passive solar gain in winter. The top floor comprises the master bedroom suite plus three other bedrooms (all with en-suites). The middle floor contains a reception room and a separate kitchen/dining/family room and the lower floor incorporates a gym, sauna, games room and home cinema in addition to the outdoor kitchen/barbeque area.
